PLEASE WAIT IN THE FOYER
MULTI - DISCIPLINARY WORKSHOPS FOR YOUNG CARE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE AGED 18-25
Company Four delivered 9, 4 hour weekly workshops for a group of care experienced young people to explore, develop & create artistic work of different art forms they are currently lacking any or sufficient access to. The final week was lead as a “production week” where the participants were paid a wage, and supported by Company Four & its key facilitators to deliver their work to an audience in their chosen form; be it a performance, exhibition or sharing, or a combination of these.
Partner organisation Contact worked alongside Company Four to ensure a legacy of access to the arts for this group to further develop artistic or technical skills they wish to continue advancing beyond PWITF.
PWITF accommodated 2 streams of research:
1. Exploring how Company Four’s socially engaged methodology for exploring multi-disciplinary art allows for marginalised groups to explore and/ or express their experiences - shared or otherwise - in an arts space without any “push” or “requirement” to talk.
2. Focused on how arts spaces can benefit from working collaboratively with people from different backgrounds, ie. academics & non-arts practitioners as peers & co-creators and not just beneficiaries. Thus levelling hierarchy in arts spaces and creation
The research will be soon available online and in book form, please keep an eye out here or on our socials or email us for more information.
